Marius Ilove Matthews

Mr. Marius Matthews started his career at one of South Africa's major banking institutions. He was however quickly recognized for his entrepreneurial skills and marketing abilities and joined the Reeva Foreman Group of companies under whose tutorship he became a marketing expert. He was earmarked to pursue the company's European activities but he realized his potential and started his own business which was a great success. He eventually sold and joined the SPE Group together with his father Stan Matthews who unfortunately passed away in May 2004. Marius made a great impact on the business activities of SPE leading it together with his partner Naas du Plooy to become a national security guarding company with major blue chip clients His exceptional marketing skills and business abilities soon saw SPE, become one of the major security guarding companies in South Africa. As Managing Director Marius and his loyal partner and staff members have major plans for 2010 leading into 2011, seeing the company participating in full force and growing from strength to strength.

Ignatius Johannes Du Plooy

Mr. Naas du Plooy assisted his son Hennie du Plooy to establish SPE (Security Patrol Experts) in November 1994. From humble beginnings in a garage in Discovery Roodepoort the company grew at a rapid pace under the watchful eye of Naas du Plooy. With his 30 years of experience in Local Authority he carefully guided the company through the initial growing pains experienced by most entrepreneurs in the first 5 years of operation. His administrative skills ensured a firm foundation and with his new partner Marius Matthews coming on board to contribute in the marketing and financial field Naas could focus his attention on the legal, H.R and salary departments. The latter becoming a smooth running machine with some of the most loyal and trustworthy Management and Staff members any Director of a company can only dream of.

Advocate Rod Solomons

After matriculating in 1982, Adv Rod Solomons completed a B.Soc.Sc degree, followed by an LLB at UCT and the UWC. He also has various other educational certificates & training. His experiences span multiple fields such as Labour Research, Finance, HR Management, General Management and Sport and Recreation. During his tenure in Government, Rod was an advisor to the Western Cape Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism after the 1994 elections. He created the Western Cape Department of Sport and Recreation as well as the amalgamated Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport. In his quest for new challenges, Rod left government at the end of 2005 to become a successful entrepreneur and is a shareholder and Director of various companies. Rod has traveled to many countries where he has developed invaluable friendships with senior decision makers in governments and business in fields inclusive of sport, tourism, Security, transport and trade and industry, to name a few. Rod is particularly skilled in strategizing, policy development, project management and making things happen. With his knowledge and expertise and his warm relationships internationally, Rod is welcomed into the fold of SPE Group, as one of our BEE partners. With his commitment and skills, we certainly look forward to improving the growth and prosperity of our Company.

Arnou Philippus Oberholzer

In 2000 , Arnou joined SPE and started to build a phenomenal business. As a retired Colonel in the SAPS with about 20 years of service he brought his expertise in Crowd Control and strategic planning and Operational management to SPE. As Operational Director, with his experience he orchestrated the rapid growth of SPE in the Free State, and in the short period of 5 yrs he has more than doubled the client base in Bloemfontein. Under his leadership and Operational expertise SPE established itself as a reputable Company on a national Level.

Professor Itumeleng Masala

Professor Itumeleng Mosala is a professional and qualified educator. He studied nationally in South Africa and at overseas universities. He holds the following degrees: AFTS with distinction in Hebrew language and literature; an MA degree from the University of Manchester in the UK; an MBA degree from The Open University in the UK; and a PhD degree from the University of Cape Town. He has lectured in universities and colleges globally. He was a lecturer and head of Department at the University of Botswana; a professor at the University of Cape Town; a visiting professor at the Divinity Faculty at the University of Camridge in the UK; a Principal and Vice Chancellor at the Technikon North West - now part of the Tshwane University of Technology. He has worked for the government of the Republic of South Africa as Chief Director for Higher Education; Director General of the Department of Arts and Culture. He is currently Director for the Board of Supreme Property Fund; Founder and Executive Director of Still Nascent Ventures (PTY) Ltd; Chairman of Tee of Tyme Consultancy (PTY) Ltd; and Vice President of Westinghouse Electric South Africa. Professor Mosala's divergent skills and wealth of knowledge has seen him reading papers at International conferences, successfully having journal articles published, co-authoring numerous books and authoring his own book. Prof Mosala brings a wide range of experience, knowledge, networks and high-powered associates into the fold of SPE Group.
